Businesses

It seems to be a status symbol to own a business, and some of our readers really want to own a business some day. There are thousands and thousands of very tiny businesses in Dakar!
Some items for sale are put out on sidewalks and in the street medians. We saw these two scenes every day.

It is interesting to see so many suitcases for sale.

Many other businesses are set up in small shacks.
I am not sure what is being sold in the first photo. This is about a block from our apartment.

There are many people who sell fruit and vegetables. Most of the fruit sellers are from a neighboring country, so many locals refuse to buy from them.

The next photo shows sand for sale. It looks as if it takes quite a few men to sell this pile of sand!

Next is hay for sale.

I cannot figure this one out! It appears they are selling time for "orange" service cell phones. They also sell water and used construction materials.
