Our apartment building is very nice. It was built by a man who owns a lucrative rope making and selling business based out of Ghana and with locations in several other countries. He wanted to build a place for some of his employees to live, and several of those employees are leaders in the church. He allows visitors to use one of the smaller apartments, and he also has a large apartment that he saves for himself for when he visits Senegal several times a year. (Our first 3 weeks were spent in the smaller apartment, and the last 3 weeks in the larger.)
The first photo is of the outside of the building. The second balcony is off of one of the bedrooms in the larger apartment. The living room windows are on the right side of the building. Approximately above the blue car on the right of the building, on the same floor as the larger apartment, is the smaller of the apartments.
These two little boys live in the building. The one on the right is Jethro, the son of George and Diana.
Next is the front entrance to the building. This door is kept locked at all times. The next door that one goes through is a glass door that is locked at night.
The next photo is of the doorman, who is at the front door most of the time. I am not sure whose car is in the picture, but the doorman washes it almost every day!
Following is a view from the window of the smaller apartment. We are not sure what the green plants are. Where the man is walking, there are usually about 6-8 goats. The open door just behind and to the left of the car is the entrance to a very tiny grocery store. (During the month of Ramadan, in the late evenings, we saw people cooking on open fires in the green area. Many days there was a group of teenage boys who would gather on the ground in front of the wall and play games, which we assumed must be some sort of gambling games, for hours.)
