Scotland Trip, Part 1, Lake District of England

We had a long weekend several weeks ago, and we decided to drive to Scotland to the Loch areas. I have finally gotten the pictures organized, and I have way more than I probably should post, but I have decided to post them over several days. I hope it won't be too boring! If you have not gone to Scotland, we would highly recommend it----it is beautiful!
Because it was a holiday weekend (Monday was a holiday in England---called a Bank Holiday), the traffic was really bad and we didn't get nearly as far as we had planned. We stopped at a Bed and Breakfast for the night (we felt lucky to find one with vacancies), and because we wanted to get a really early start on Saturday morning, we did not eat breakfast there. Actually that was O.K., as we weren't sure that the breakfast would be very good ----the B&B left some to be desired, and the man that owned it did not look like much of a cook! At least the room was clean and nice, though not pretty. This is the outside of the B&B. The backyard was very interesting, to say the least!
We ate on Friday night at a new restaurant that was a short walk from the B &B. It had excellent food at a reasonable price. We were happy to find that place!
The next morning we headed for the Lake District of England and the town of Windemere.

The next town we headed for was Grasmere.

These two towns are such neat places. We wished that we had had time to walk around and go into the shops, etc., but there just was not time because of our tight schedule.
More to follow about Scotland on another day...............

Retirement is going to be boring for y'all when you get back to the States! I can't believe all that y'all are getting to see!

Those towns sound real familiar. Did we go there on our tour of Scotland with GG?
