Chimala Hospital, part 2

The hospital administer is Bernard. He speaks excellent English, is a church leader, has a great smile, and has a great sense of humor. He interpreted for us at the hospital devos and at the Mission Church. He loved our parties. He said that the parties were so much fun and made him feel like a kid again! We really enjoyed visiting with Bernard.

The next photos are of the surgery area. First are the scrubbing sinks outside of the surgery room.

Doctors and nurses must put on boots before entering surgery.

The operating table is next. The nursing students said that this blue plastic is "wiped down" between surgeries! There is little disinfecting done.
Many treatments are done without anesthetic. The nursing students said that most burn victims are treated without anesthetic, even when burned skin is being pulled off. Teeth are pulled without deadening.

The people in Tanzania are so grateful to have a hospital that is close enough for them to get to in case of emergency.
