Chimala Nursery School

The above picture shows children from the Chimala Nursery School. The name "nursery school" is used for PreK ages four to five. The Nursery School building is on the left behind the children.

Every morning the children wait outside for school to begin. We walked past them many mornings, and each time they would all come running to us to have their photos taken. They loved photos---and attention!!

Ron gathered a crowd as he showed the children the pictures that he had taken of them.

The next photo was taken inside the classroom. Notice that there are no toys and nothing on the walls. There are no displays of books or supplies. The woman in the picture is Nazareth, the secretary for the School of Preaching. The children are very happy to have visitors!
School begins at 8:00 a.m. and is over about 1:00. They have a "tea break" about 10:00. There is no playground equipment for them. There is one teacher and one aid.

I could not leave out many of my pictures---the kids are too cute!
They are very happy, and they smile a lot, but sometimes the smiles disappear for the camera.

The little boy in the next picture had gotten his pencil and paper out of his backpack. I think he wanted to show us that he could write!

In the following video the children are singing "Zacchaeus" ----in Swahili!

Since you are a teacher, I am sure you enjoyed visiting their school. They were all well-dressed. I guess they are lucky to have a school like this. I am sure you wanted to decorate their classroom.
