The Lonely Scooters
We had such a good time over the last 3 weeks when Matt, Julie, and the kids were here visiting us in England! We were sad to see them go back home----it is very quiet and lonely here now! There are many things to write about (now that I have time!), but I will start with the scooters.
When Julie and Matt went to London for a few days, we took the kids to the Boot Sale on Sunday afternoon. The Boot Sale is like a giant flea market, and it is held every Sunday afternoon that it is not raining. It is called a "boot" sale because people sell stuff out of their car trunks, or "boots". I would guess that there are usually over 200 people set up to sell, as well as 5 or 6 selling food items. (It makes me not miss the garage sales at home quite so much!)
That day our best "finds" were two scooters. Lauren and Katelyn were really excited about them, and they spent hours riding them while here. The driveway in front of our apartment was a really nice place to ride, and the girls got quite good at riding. They used the round drain cover in the middle of the drive as their "round-a-bout"! (traffic circle)
The girls met two girls, ages 8 and 5, who live close to us. They enjoyed riding scooters and bikes with them. Lauren taught them how to play "Simon Says". When the 2 girls left for a holiday (vacation), you would have thought that Lauren and Katelyn had lost their best friends!
Lauren and Katelyn really wanted to take the scooters home, but they just would not fit in the luggage! So now the scooters are parked on our back patio, and they really look lonely! I miss the kids everytime I see them!
The Lonely Scooters....................
Note Katelyn's rock collection behind the scooters. She picks up rocks everywhere she goes!

I figured you'd be really lonely after they all left...but I also knew that you'd get back to posting! We're glad to get to hear about your life in England again!
It looks like the girls had fun with the scooters!
(Your blog is much more interesting with pictures!) The girls do miss their scooters. We checked into having them mailed, but it just cost too much.
I am not going to show Katelyn these pictures because I have already been chewed out by her for not bringing ALL the rocks home with us. Remember the big ones she was collecting at the pebble beach? Even those were supposed to make it home apparently. And she has (unfortunately) noticed that the bird head skeleton didn't make it either. Frankly, I wasn't sure how customs would like that one!
Bird head skeleton?!?!? Katelyn cracks me up!
Isn't it sad when the grandkids leave? But, it is so wonderful when they come back again for a visit.
We got to play with Lauren, Katelyn and Collin at Brody's birthday party. They are so much fun and such good kids! We are all proud of them!!!

I didn't know Katelyn liked rocks so much. We should have mentioned that to Brody since he likes rocks too.
I know how you feel when everyone leaves. I haven't put up Brody's high chair yet.
Ron and I did manage to bring home a few of Katelyn's rocks ---and the bird skeleton----when we returned home from England!
