Restaurants

Just one note before the "blog of the day"-----The last 8 blogs have been about tourist sites in Qingdao. While it may look like we spent a lot of time touring the city, all of the 8 were from only one day. Even that day was not completely free, as we met with David and Sandi for over an hour before our sight-seeing began that day! So, while it may seem that we had lots of free time, we didn't! But we were really glad to get to see much of the city. Our readers were also happy that we got to enjoy their city!

Now to today's blog-----
Our area of Qingdao has many restaurants, most of which are Chinese or Korean. Ron and I look for restaurants that have pictures of food on their menus! We have found some favorite places to eat.
The one we go to most is Chalon, which is the one on the upper level of the Jusco store. It has menus with pictures, but it also has display windows of plates of food that are one the menu---the food is plastic but looks real. Some other restaurants have the same thing, including another favorite restaurant, BBQ Chicken.

The next photo shows the display cases outside BBQ Chicken. Their main dishes are chicken burgers, fried chicken (that tastes like home), and fried pork, but you can get some other foods, too.

The next photos are inside BBQ Chicken.

We see lots of waiters and waitresses at every restaurant. They are very courteous and try to help us even though few of them speak English. We do a lot of pointing and sign language! Their job is very low paying, and tipping is OK but not customary.

Next is a Korean restaurant that is very close to our apartment.

This next photo is of the J.J.'s pizza that was delivered for our good-bye party for our new friends the Wednesday of our last week in China.

The next picture shows three of the pizza delivery vehicles for the new Farmers' Pizza restaurant. It is Korean owned. We ate pizza there once---it was OK, but not like home. It did not have the tomato based pizza sauce like we are used to having, and it had some ingredients that seemed odd for pizza, such as corn!
